Domestic Students

Beginning your Lauriston journey

Thank you for considering a Lauriston education for your child. Lauriston promises to deliver every student an experience that goes beyond both grades and the classroom. It’s a philosophy that’s produced graduates with the confidence to think freely, take the lead and change the world since 1901.

Head of Admissions, Michelle McKay and Admissions Officer, Carol Wadsworth, oversee the enrolment process at Lauriston. They will keep you informed of our processes, send you all relevant communications and meet with you personally, along with our Principal, Susan Just, to welcome your family to the School.

Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your child. If you have any questions, please contact our Admissions Team on +61 3 9864 7555 or admissions@lauriston.vic.edu.au

Your enrolment process

Lauriston in a non-selective, open entry school from 3-year-old Kindergarten to Year 12. Our main entry points are in 3-year-old and 4-year-old Kindergarten, Prep, Year 5, Year 7 and Year 10. There are occasional vacancies in other year levels and all enrolment enquiries are considered.

Applications can be submitted for immediate commencement and the admissions team will contact you if a position is available.

We encourage families to place their child’s name on our waitlist as early as possible by completing an Application for Admission.
An application is not a guarantee of enrolment.

The Application for Admission must be provided to the School, together with:

  • Payment of a non-refundable Application Fee
  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport
  • If your child holds a Permanent Residency (PR) or Temporary Residency (TR) visa we will also require a copy
Step 2: Pre-enrolment Documentation

Our Admissions Team will contact you up to 2 years prior to commencement if your child is entering Kindergarten or Prep, and up to 3 years prior if entering Years 5 or 7. We’ll contact you up to 12 months prior to commencement for other year levels.

The next step is to complete these two pieces of pre-enrolment documentation:

  • Enrolment Profile (completed and signed by parents or guardians)
  • Student Profile (completed by students entering Year 1 or above)

At this time, we ask you to submit any further supporting documentation, including:

  • 2 x most recent School Reports from the student’s current school (a translation on School letterhead is required if the report is not in English)
  • NAPLAN results (if applicable)
  • An up-to-date Immunisation History Statement (Kindergarten only)
  • Reports from external providers, such as educational psychologist assessments (if applicable)
  • Medical reports (if applicable)
  • Documentation regarding court orders relevant to the student’s custody or living arrangements (if applicable)

The completion of the Enrolment Profile and Student Profile is not a guarantee of enrolment.

Step 3: Interview

Prior to entry, prospective students and their parents will be invited to attend an enrolment interview. This could be up to 36 months before their commencement.

Your interview will be conducted by a senior member of staff and is a conversation with you and your child aimed at deciding whether Lauriston Girls’ School is the right fit for your family.

Prior to your interview, we ask that your family takes a tour of the School. You can book a tour here

Attending an interview is not a guarantee of enrolment.

In the case of entry into our Kindergarten, parents and children will meet with the Director of Kindergarten. This step occurs after an acceptance of offer, usually in the Term prior to commencement.

Step 4: Offer of Enrolment

If we are satisfied that Lauriston can meet your child’s educational needs, your family will be made an Offer of Enrolment.

To accept an Offer, parents or guardians must complete an Acceptance of Offer of Enrolment and make payment of the relevant fees by the due date.

Confirmation of a student’s enrolment will not be issued until all documentation and fees have been received.

Step 5: Transition and Orientation

Your child will be welcomed to Lauriston Girls’ School through our Transition & Orientation Program.
