Ullmer Sports & Wellbeing Centre
Ullmer Sports & Wellbeing Centre
Our new sports & wellbeing centre encourages a lifelong connection with sport and physical activity, which is vital to women’s health and wellbeing.
Sport can foster connections, build transferable skills such as teamwork and encourage the levels of physical activity needed for optimal health – especially for students in their senior years, who are juggling multiple commitments.
Sport has been integral to life at Lauriston since its beginnings. In 1903 Lauriston introduced the first girls inter-school hockey match. Lauriston was the first Melbourne all girls’ school to provide gym facilities in 1969, and in 1989 built a swimming pool that was the first of its kind.
Now, thanks to the generosity of our parents and alumni, the world-class facilities of the new Ullmer Sports & Wellbeing Centre will continue to ensure we provide all girls with a truly holistic, all-round education that prepares students, not only for academic rigour but for the challenges of life.
State of the art facilities
Comprising two new competition-sized multi-purpose courts for basketball, netball, volleyball badminton or other sports. There is also a weights and conditioning studio, yoga and movement room, ergo and cardio room and learn to swim pool, so that girls will be provided the opportunity for students to continue to develop the skills needed to pursue a competitive level of sport, but also help them flourish from a wellbeing perspective.
